Krokidas & Bluestein is proud to share that Kathryn Murphy has been recognized by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly’s 2026 “Top Women of Law.” This honor celebrates the remarkable women whose vision and dedication are advancing the legal field across Massachusetts, both in their work and in the communities they serve.
Kathy has spent two decades at Krokidas & Bluestein expanding her real estate practice as a key member of the Firm’s transaction group. Her expert knowledge, experience, and skillful navigation of public agencies allow her to facilitate the execution of transformative projects in Massachusetts.
Kathy recently assisted two historic public housing redevelopment efforts in Boston. She led the firm's representation of the Boston Housing Authority as ground lessor in closing the financing for Building A of the Mary Ellen McCormack redevelopment in South Boston. She has played a similarly central role on the Bunker Hill Housing Redevelopment in Charlestown, representing the BHA through the ground lease, joint venture agreement, and financing for Building F, a 266-unit project that includes 58 replacement affordable units and marks the first deployment of the city's Accelerator Fund. In collaboration with her transaction group team members, Kathy’s work helps the Boston community evolve.
Her advocacy extends beyond individual deals to the broader field. She regularly speaks at industry forums, most recently as part of a Real Estate Bar Association of Massachusetts panel on the McCormack redevelopment and a Boston Bar Association tour highlighting the Bunker Hill project. Kathy shared the legal and financial strategy behind these transactions to enable other practitioners and stakeholders to learn from the K&B transaction team. She has also served as a panelist in connection with ALI/CLE Modern Real Estate Transactions and Commercial Leasing courses and has contributed to the ABA Mortgage Foreclosure book and the State-by-State Guide to Commercial Real Estate Leases. Kathy offers her expertise beyond her clients, seeking to enrich the broader real estate and community development sector.
Kathy's impact is also reflected in sustained recognition from her peers. She was named "Lawyer of the Year" in Real Estate Law by Best Lawyers in 2021 and has been listed in Best Lawyers in America (Real Estate and Land Use and Zoning) since 2014, recognized in Real Estate by Super Lawyers since 2006, and named in Who's Who Legal as a Real Estate Attorney from 2012–2018. She received the 2011 Leadership Award and the 2013 Network Impact Award from New England Women in Real Estate, now known as CREW. She also won the Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Networking Award in three separate years. We are excited to see her work and dedication to her field reflected in this recognition.
