Krokidas & Bluestein Names Two New Firm Partners

January 6, 2025 (Boston) — Boston-based law firm Krokidas & Bluestein announced that attorneys Bettina Toner and Gabriel Balzano-Brookes have been elevated to partner.

“Bettina and Gabe are exceptionally skilled attorneys, able to evaluate and achieve the best outcomes for the clients they represent, and leaders within their practice teams. We are most pleased to have them join the ranks of Krokidas & Bluestein partners,” says Co-Managing Partner Elka Sachs.

Elizabeth (“Bettina”) Toner is a member of the Firm’s Education and Employment practice groups. In her over 25 years of practice, Bettina has represented both public and private entities and individuals in various education and employment matters. Bettina advises charter schools and other public and private educational entities on organizational, policy, and student services matters. She also provides guidance to clients on employment law matters, including litigation and policy development in areas such as compensation, termination, harassment, and discrimination.

Bettina has also represented clients in a variety of complex civil rights cases in state and federal courts throughout the United States. She frequently leads presentations and trainings on education, employment, and civil rights-related topics.

Gabriel Balzano-Brookes concentrates his practice in commercial real estate law, focusing on affordable housing, community development, and charter school development.

Gabe represents for-profit, nonprofit, and public entities in the acquisition, disposition, financing, zoning, permitting, and leasing of real property. He often represents banks, community development lenders, and other financial institutions in complex multi-party real estate and commercial financing transactions. He has significant experience with affordable housing transactions involving public and private financing sources, including bond financing, federal and state low-income housing, and historic tax credits.
